Members of the Mormon Mental Health Association come together around the following mission:

Mission Statement

The Mormon Mental Health Association (MMHA) is a secular professional association for mental health providers, educators, and researchers who offer ethical and culturally competent services and information to persons along the continuum of involvement in and commitment to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, any churches connected to the restoration movement of Joseph Smith, and to those who identify with the broader Mormon cultural experience.

The mission of the Mormon Mental Health Association (MMHA) is to:

Help connect ethical, culturally sensitive clinicians to each other and to persons who are seeking out such providers.

Educate ecclesiastical leaders and church members on evidence-based, best practices in the field of mental health and well-being.

Advocate for therapeutic practices, church policies, research endeavors, and social justice initiatives that support positive mental health for Mormons.

Connection

Help connect ethical, culturally sensitive clinicians to each other and to persons who are seeking out such providers through a referral list.

Advocacy

Advocate for evidence-based, best therapeutic practices, church policies, research endeavors, and social justice initiatives that support positive mental health for Mormons.

Continuing Education

Provide professionals with opportunities for continuing education in cultural competence in when working with people who have a Mormon background.

Research & Collaboration

Support research efforts and professional collaboration among MMHA membership.

Clinical/ Provisionally Licensed Membership
$ 60/yr

Clinical/Provisionally Licensed Members are licensed mental health professionals in good standing with their state licensing boards who are looking to be included in the referral list of this site. They are in agreement with the MMHA mission statement, values, and goals, and are willing to be vetted by a member of the board for willingness to follow ethical best practices. This membership includes provisionally licensed mental health professionals.


Benefits of Clinical/Provisionally Licensed Membership:
  • Name and practice information included on our Find a Provider page.
  • Discount to the MMHA Annual Conference and other trainings.
  • Access to secret MMHA Facebook Group to collaborate and network with other professional members.
  • Ability to advertise workshops, trainings, publications, job opportunities, and other resources.
  • Opportunity to participate in elections of board members with the option of running for positions.
  • Opportunity to participate in weekly peer supervision meetings.
  • Free access to lunch and learn trainings and MMHA newsletters.
  • Opportunity to approach the board with potential projects.
  • Benefits of Research Membership included. Email us if you’d like to be added to the research collaboration group.

Student
Membership
$ 30/yr

Student members are those who have completed an undergraduate degree and are working toward becoming a licensed mental health professional.


Benefits of Student Membership:
  • Opportunities to connect with potential mentors and supervisors.
  • Discount to the MMHA Annual Conference and other trainings.
  • Access to secret MMHA Facebook Group where one can collaborate and network with other professional members.
  • Ability to advertise workshops, research, publications, access to job opportunity announcements, etc.
  • Opportunity to participate in elections of board members.
  • Be represented by a student/intern board member. Have the option to run for this position.
  • Opportunity to participate in weekly peer supervision meetings.
  • Free access to lunch and learn trainings and MMHA newsletters.
  • Opportunity to approach the board with potential projects.
  • Student members are not listed in the MMHA Find a Provider directory.

Research
Membership

Research members are independent researchers or professionals in academia who are looking to collaborate on projects related to the intersection of Mormonism and mental health.


Benefits of Research Membership:
  • Opportunity to participate in monthly virtual research collaborating meetings.
  • Potential to collaborate and publish research and articles with MMHA researcher peers.
  • Opportunity to present relevant research findings at the annual conference or monthly Lunch and Learns.

Membership

Friends of MMHA members include anyone who wants to support the mission and values of MMHA.
