Lunch and Learn: Faith, Fear & OCD: When Spirituality Meets Scrupulosity

For individuals with OCD, faith and spirituality can become intertwined with cycles of doubt, guilt, fear, and compulsive reassurance-seeking. This presentation will explore religious scrupulosity, how OCD can masquerade as a spiritual concern, and how to distinguish OCD from other forms of repetitive or compulsive behavior. Participants will learn how functional analysis can help identify the purpose a behavior serves and guide appropriate intervention, while supporting individuals in honoring their faith and values.
