Private Practice or No Private Practice? Exploring the option of private practice work
Erika Nordfelt, LCPC and CMHC

This is a brief overview of what it is like to start and run a private practice.  We will discussed aspects of billing, EHR systems, marketing, and overall business structure.  For those considering this options, hopefully this will give more insight to knowing if its a good fit.

Erika graduated with her BS in Counseling in 2009 from Adams State College. Since then she has been working primarily in the clinical space with individuals and couples.  Her early work was primarily at BYU-Idaho working with the college demographic. In 2020 she started her own private practice and now is the owner and Clinical Director of a group practice, Greenstone Counseling. Between the two offices in Rexburg and Pocatello, her team serves the larger southeast Idaho area.

Erika specializes in trauma and does a lot of direct work with LGBTQ+ clients and religious trauma/transition. She is trained and regularly uses EMDR and IFS in her work. She is the author of a book called “Don’t Walk Alone: Understanding the divine gift of connection while navigating shame.” This book covers lots of important mental health concepts overlaid spirituality, shame resilience, and connection.

She runs Greenstone with her husband Brady. Together they have 4 kids, a dog and a cat, and try to play outside as much as possible.
