Description
Andrés Larios Brown (they/elle), LMFT, is a Utah-based therapist and educator whose work sits at the intersection of clinical practice, teaching, and professional training. As Training Director of the Simple Modern Institute, they teach graduate-level courses and lead statewide trainings on ethical LGBTQ+ care, trauma healing, and liberatory clinical practice, with particular attention to faith transitions, religious trauma, and systemic harm.
This introductory training offers a high-level clinical framework for understanding the fragmentation of self experienced by LGBTQ+ people raised as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Grounded in Sue et al.’s multicultural counseling framework, this training supports clinicians in increasing awareness, building foundational knowledge, and identifying ethically sound therapeutic interventions that promote integration for clients navigating the tension of faith and identity.
