Professional Statement

Finding the right therapist—one who truly “gets you”—is vital. Explaining the intricacies of your LDS/Mormon background and its effects on your life and relationships can be frustrating and hinder the therapy process. Even if you’re not seeking therapy for faith or religion-related difficulties, a therapist who understands your background can be invaluable.

I work with people across the LDS/Mormon spectrum, from active members to post-Mormons. If asked, I’m happy to discuss my own identity related to the LDS faith. Most clients never ask but express relief at finding a therapist who understands their religious background and doesn’t push them in any religious direction.

Those I work with frequently describe me as warm, open, caring, non-judgmental, and fun! Under the right circumstances and if appropriate, I incorporate humor and sarcasm into our meetings because it’s good to laugh even when discussing life’s difficulties. My goal is to create a safe environment where you can be yourself and gain confidence in your decisions. If you’re a driven individual seeking a therapist for practical solutions using evidence-based strategies, I am likely a good fit for you.

I specialize in anxiety, depression, perfectionism, and guilt. I assist adults with career shifts, existential dilemmas, LGBTQ+ identity, spiritual traumas, mixed-faith marriages, and relationship challenges.

Most of my clients use private pay for my services because of increased treatment flexibility and increased confidentiality from insurance companies. That being said, for Utah and Washington clients I accept most Aetna insurance plans. If you want to use your insurance but I’m not in network with them, you can either receive a superbill to submit to your insurance for reimbursement, or we can utilize a third party company called Thrizer. Thrizer automatically submits all necessary information to your insurance so you can easily and automatically use your out of network (OON) benefits.

As a PSYPACT-approved psychologist, I can see clients in 40+ states.
