Professional Statement

I help Latter-day Saint mothers to deconstruct unhelpful cultural narratives about motherhood. I work from a family systems perspective, emphasizing balance between individuality and togetherness in relationships. I draw from my own personal experiences to provide empathy and understanding to my clients and help them find hope and healing. I also provide couple and family therapy through a lens of systemic family therapy. I have been published in the academic literature of family therapy contrasting the two main parenting approaches of attachment and differentiation. I can help parents navigate their own parenting challenges, as well as deconstruct cultural messages that pressure parents to be constantly available to their children. I hope to help parents find relief from guilt and burnout, find genuine connection with their children, and promote their children’s self-reliance and healthy development. I also am willing to utilize a spiritual lens integrated with my practice if that would be of interest to my client and helpful for their care.
