Professional Statement

There’s a specific kind of grief that comes with leaving the LDS Church—and not everyone in your life will understand it.

As an ex-Mormon therapist, I work with former Mormons to process their experiences, work through shame, explore identity, and reconnect with their own values—at their own pace.

A lot of my clients come in feeling like they can’t trust themselves anymore, or struggling to figure out who they even are outside of the Church. People-pleasing, guilt, and shame tend to run deep. Relationships with family and friends who are still in the Church can be painful to navigate. Certain songs, phrases, or situations can be surprisingly triggering. Many are also grappling with a disorienting kind of emptiness—the old scaffolding is gone, and nothing has taken its place yet. And underneath all of it, there’s often grief—for the community, the certainty, the future they thought they’d have, and sometimes the relationships that didn’t survive the transition.

I offer teletherapy to clients in California and Utah. If any of this resonates, I’d love to hear from you—reach out to see if we’d be a good fit. Please note that I’m currently on leave and will be accepting new clients at the end of 2026.
