Professional Statement

I graduated from BYU over 20 years ago with the dream of pursuing a graduate degree and the credentials to provide therapeutic support for people. I returned to that plan with more life experience than expected, after raising a family. I earned a master’s degree in Counseling from Geneva College in Pennsylvania with an emphasis on couples and families. Through both my personal and professional experiences, I have come to believe that life is richer when we are brave enough to see it clearly and live deliberately. Usually that means pushing ourselves to develop in ways that are challenging but ultimately rewarding.

Even though we share an understanding of LDS religion and culture, I am curious about your unique story. I recognize that navigating issues at the intersection of religious practice and mental health can be complicated. I respect your beliefs and want you to have the support you need no matter where you are on the spectrum of faith and activity. I work with marginalized populations including LGBTQ+ clients and their families, women, non-believing members, and mixed-faith families.

I work with individuals, couples and families that are motivated to get curious, develop skills and find relief by engaging in therapy. I like to collaborate with you to develop goals and understand your strengths, challenges, and barriers to growth.

Finding a therapist that you connect with and trust is a critical part of making progress towards your goals. I know that it takes courage to reach out to a stranger so let’s start with a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if it feels right for you. I’m so happy you are seeking the support you deserve!
