You love each other, and there may be a lot about your relationship that works. But somehow, you can still feel lonely inside it. Communication has become harder, the same conflicts keep resurfacing, or sex and intimacy have become sources of tension rather than connection.
I’m Marina Stanton, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist specializing in couples counseling and sex therapy. I help couples understand what’s getting in the way of feeling close and build stronger emotional and sexual relationships.
My approach combines the Gottman Method, the Developmental Model of Couples Therapy, and specialized training in sex therapy. I’m warm, direct, practical, and sometimes irreverent. I won’t just nod and tell you to communicate better. We’ll look at what happens between you, what each of you brings into those moments, and what can help you respond differently.
I frequently work with LDS and other religious couples, mixed-faith couples, and couples navigating faith transitions. Therapy doesn’t require you and your partner to share the same beliefs or arrive at the same conclusions. We can make room for your differences while helping you talk about faith, values, relationships, and sexuality with greater honesty and respect.
I offer in-person couples therapy in Centennial, Colorado, serving the Denver metro area, and online therapy throughout Colorado, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Idaho.
