I work with people who are in the middle of something hard: a marriage ending, a family reorganizing, a version of their life they didn’t plan for. Any life transition is difficult, and I’ve learned that the pain in those seasons isn’t just about the relationship that changed. It’s about grief, identity, and figuring out who you are now that the old structure is gone.
I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist and clinical social worker with 15 years in this work, based in the Salt Lake area. My approach draws on family systems thinking (the idea that we make a lot more sense once you see the relationships and patterns around us), along with EMDR for trauma and the Gottman Method for couples and communication. A lot of my work also involves helping people communicate more effectively and strengthen their sense of who they are.
I don’t expect clients to arrive with the right words for what they’re feeling. Part of my job is helping you find language for something that might currently just feel like static, whether that’s anger, shame, exhaustion, or a grief that doesn’t have an obvious name yet. I also work with trauma more broadly, not just the kind tied to a single event, but the kind that builds up in families over years.
If you’re navigating a surprising emotional challenge or a long-term rollercoaster of mental health, or just feeling like your family’s story took a hard turn you didn’t choose, I’d like to help you find solid ground again. Therapy with me tends to be direct, warm, and occasionally a little funny, because I don’t think healing has to be humorless to be serious.
