Professional Statement

I see clients as lifelong learners and the experts in their lives. I work from a narrative perspective to help people see how the stories of their lives impact them in ways they may not always be aware of. Sometimes problems have a way of getting so big that people feel their problems are their identity. I will work with you to challenge that idea, and get space from what is bothering you.

I help clients explore what they’ve heard about how people are “supposed to be.” I work to help clients figure out where these stories come from, and how these ideas affect them. I work collaboratively to help clients determine how these dominant stories intersect with their own hopes and preferences, so that clients can actively re-create their stories in ways that better fit their values.

I seek to create an affirmative, curious, and non-judgmental space where clients will feel comfortable exploring past issues and the meanings attached to them. I support my clients’ efforts to find and access untapped resources that are already in their lives. I hope you will feel comfortable giving me feedback on our work together, and I welcome the opportunity to work with you to create the change you hope for in your life.
