Welcome! I’m Tanja Romney. I am glad you are here. If you are anything like I used to be, you may be hesitant to reach out for counseling. I remember feeling that same way years ago when I was struggling in my own life when I was inundated by grief and trauma. My journey wasn’t a straight line. There were stumbles, setbacks, and moments where I questioned if I could ever truly recover. Through my own journey in therapy, I discovered that I possessed resilience and the capacity for growth even in the face of profound pain. This personal experience wasn’t just a trial; it became a profound teacher. It ignited a passion within me to want to help others.
That’s why I went back to school to earn a second master’s degree and become a counselor, and why I specialize in trauma, marriage counseling, betrayal trauma, and grief. I understand the complexities of relationships, the devastating impact of trauma and the isolating nature of loss. I know that beneath the surface of anger, resentment, and despair, there lies a deep longing for connection, healing, and hope.
I strive to create a therapeutic alliance built on honesty, respect, and compassion. My goal is to empower my clients to reclaim their lives, to rediscover their strength, and to build relationships that are grounded in authenticity and trust. I believe in the power of healing, not just from the intellectual perspective of a professional, but from the visceral understanding of someone who has walked that path themselves.
I understand the nuances of grief. Whether you are grieving a person, your marriage, your identity, choices made by others, etc. I am here to provide you with a safe place and tools to navigate your loss.
If you are experiencing difficulties in your marriage, whether big or small, please reach out! I have been married for 30 years and have five adult children. I will be able to relate to the very difficult challenges that inevitably come in families.
If needed, I utilize EMDR in my practice as I have experienced tremendous help from it in my own personal therapy. In addition, I also bring in other trauma informed techniques to help my clients.
Please reach out! I would love to see how I can help you. I promise your story will never be too big or too shameful. You do not need to suffer alone.
