My area of expertise is working with people in the midst of faith transitions, and couples navigating mixed-faith marriage. Often, our entire identities are based on our religious beliefs. During a faith crisis, it feels like the foundation of your life is crumbling underneath you. Feelings of depression, anger, and anxiety are common. You don't need to face this challenge alone. In therapy for mixed faith marriages, I work to create a safe space for both the believing and non-believing spouses.

I can help you navigate the stages of grief that accompany a faith crisis (denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance), recognize and create healthy boundaries, strengthen relationships with spouse and children, and reinforce the family foundation by building communication, commitment, core values, and mutual respect. My treatment approaches include DBT, Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral, and Strength-Based Therapy.

Counseling since 1997 with a compassionate, client-led approach, while offering support, tools, and educational options to help clients navigate their unique, individual paths in self-discovery, healing, and growth, and becoming sovereign, integrated beings. Several certifications and long-term experience to offer a wide range of therapeutic options. Passionate about exploring continuing education, new modalities, and effective approaches. Years of experience running group and individual therapy in “pornography and sexual addiction recovery”* leading to my awareness of the damage being done in many sex addiction treatment models and the need for shame recovery therapy, as well as faith crisis, and religious trauma work, etc.
Skilled in helping clients:
• Eliminate shame
• Navigate & create boundaries in their faith journeys
• Emotionally regulate
• Incorporate healthy coping mechanisms
• Learn healthy relationship skills, etc.
Clients report feeling comfortable, seen, felt, validated, accepted, non-judged, supported, and empowered with practical tools.

*The DSM does not currently recognize pornography or sex addiction as a valid diagnosis. Compulsive or problematic sexual behavior may be symptomatic of underlying issues, and/or used as a coping mechanism to alleviate stress, loneliness, mental health issues, etc. I use an educational, sex-positive approach to help individuals gain clarity and sovereignty as they learn to reclaim and manage their sexuality according to their own chosen beliefs.

I see clients as lifelong learners and the experts in their lives. I work from a narrative perspective to help people see how the stories of their lives impact them in ways they may not always be aware of. Sometimes problems have a way of getting so big that people feel their problems are their identity. I will work with you to challenge that idea, and get space from what is bothering you.

I help clients explore what they’ve heard about how people are “supposed to be.” I work to help clients figure out where these stories come from, and how these ideas affect them. I work collaboratively to help clients determine how these dominant stories intersect with their own hopes and preferences, so that clients can actively re-create their stories in ways that better fit their values.

I seek to create an affirmative, curious, and non-judgmental space where clients will feel comfortable exploring past issues and the meanings attached to them. I support my clients’ efforts to find and access untapped resources that are already in their lives. I hope you will feel comfortable giving me feedback on our work together, and I welcome the opportunity to work with you to create the change you hope for in your life.

I specialize in post-LDS adjustment, trauma (particularly religious and sexual trauma), and couples. I am LGBTQ+ affirming.

I am trained in EMDR, a trauma-reprocessing therapy that can provide profound healing experiences. I am also trained in EFT, a couple's therapy modality that is based in attachment theory and uses a non-blaming approach.

Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Abuse, Relationship Counseling, Life Transitions, Faith Crisis, Faith Transition, Religious Trauma, Women’s issues, LGBTQ+

I remember the first time I went to therapy. I was so nervous and unsure about the process. Luckily, I found a therapist who really cared about me and listened intently. I want every one of my clients to feel the same.

My method is one of complete acceptance and validation. I care deeply about each of my clients and will work with you to find solutions to all your challenges, whether it be depression, anxiety, relationship troubles, trauma, you name it. I’m here to help.

Bio Photo

As a trained counselor I have experienced working with a diverse population with a variety of psychological concerns such as but not limited to:
○ Depression, anxiety, postpartum anxiety and depression, loss, bereavement, disordered body and body image concerns, trauma, low self-esteem and lack of confidence, suicidal ideation, marital problems, couples counseling, developing better communication skills, etc.

I consider myself an eclectic and collaborative therapist. I use three main theories to form my
therapeutic frame. I pull strongly from CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) , and DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy). Additional frameworks are often brought in for reference and use during my work. With these theories as my frame, I am able to take a client centered approach in which I rely on the unique characteristics of the client to adapt my counseling to best fit their needs. In therapy, I am not a judge or a decision maker. I believe that we all have the answers we need, sometimes we just need help sorting through them or identifying what some of those solutions can be. I work with a humanistic and systemic approach, looking at how the problem is not only affecting the person, but their family, their work environment, habitat, etc.; conversely, looking at how the problem, work environment, habitat, and family are affecting the person. I take a non-judgmental, curious approach to therapy to gain insights into my client's values, beliefs, and goals. Counseling is a collaborative interaction with a counselor to help foster better relationships, better communication, greater understanding of self, strategies for self-care, and in making choices that are more consistent with your values and goals. Therapeutic change cannot occur without the investment of the client.

1) Individuals who have been unsuccessful in relieving intractable suffering using other therapies, 2) Men who have been told they have "anger problems", or who simply want to feel better, become more emotionally capable in their relationships, 3) Individuals who are experiencing faith crises, or transitioning away from orthodox belief, 4) Individuals and couples who have sexual problems, sexual dysfunction, and/or sexual dissatisfaction, 5) Couples who are stuck in ambivalence about whether to stay and work on their relationship, or separate.

1) Interpersonal Reconstrutive Therapy (IRT), which is an empirically-supported, integrative model (meaning it employs the clinical best practices tailored to the particular needs and characteristics of a person) that begins with a precise case formulation so we can understand together what, exactly, is going on. IRT is especially useful for people who feel trapped in anxiety, depression, and/or anger, and can be useful for people diagnosed with personality disorders.

My approach is based heavily on Cognitive Behavioral Coaching, which applies the evidence-based principles of CBT. With a coach, you can begin working on your future NOW.

As a speech-language pathologist, I can also work with clients on gender-affirming voice therapy to help them achieve greater satisfaction with the way they present themselves to the world.

Do any of these sound familiar? You’re struggling through changes in religious beliefs and how you’ve been led to see the world; you easily get stuck in your head, where it can get real loud, and the constant worries, rules, and alarms up there are constricting the color out of your life; or you’re hurting but people don’t seem to fully understand...maybe you even have a hard time understanding yourself. If so, I can help you.

I work primarily with adults in individual therapy. I am able to see clients in several states via telehealth (PSYPACT-approved). I frequently use Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Existential Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy in my work, though I’m primarily interested in aligning with you to shape an approach that will work for your unique life. If you need someone skilled at helping people with faith transitions, want some help reclaiming your life from anxiety, and want an inclusive clinician who is sensitive to the impact and intersection of different cultural identities, reach out to me.

I am a licensed therapist in California (LPCC) and Maryland (LCPC), and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I provide telehealth psychotherapy to individuals across California and Maryland. I have specialized trainings in trauma informed therapy. I approach therapy from a strengths-based, person-centered, and trauma informed perspective. I also integrate a somatic approach, parts work, narrative therapy, trauma focused-cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and adlerian therapy. I strive to provide a culturally responsive, non-judgmental safe space where clients feel comfortable to address and heal from harm and trauma. I am passionate about working from a Health At Every Size®, body-liberation, and anti-oppressive framework.
